Sin (concluded)

.....................................................................................

Rahul was handsome and it was the first time I was seeing him, but probably at the wrong occasion. He must have seen me holding Riya's hand, luckily she just pulled her hand out at the right time.
"Would you mind if I join you", he looked at us and asked with a straight face.

" Oh why not, please ,we were actually talking about you," I had probably spelt out a blunder, had he asked what we were talking about him, I would have been screwed. But he seemed calm and composed. By then it was almost 8 and we thought of having our dinner together. It was probably the worst dinner I would have ever had, Riya didn't talk at all , Rahul asked one or two questions and I answered politely. Probably what should have been a wonderful evening was spoilt to the greatest extent. After the dinner, we exchanged a diplomatic hand shake and went to our homes, Riya didn't look me at all. I guessed all my plans have been ruined. She would never be mine again.

Next morning in the office, she was there, but this time she didn't smile at me. As soon as I entered the cabin and got seated, she came in. I knew she was not in a good mood, I said, "hope everything is ok".
Then she explained to me what had happened since we parted after the last day night. As expected , heated word exchanges, arguments and finally ends in a thrash at her face. Rahul decided to divorce her, even she wanted it badly. Her eyes were brim with tears. Finally she looked at me at asked," Do you love me".
" I do", My reply brought a rainbow of colours in her smile, she hugged me; I was wearing rose coloured glasses, my dream has been painted on the canvas of reality within no time. I thanked God, finally I felt I had found my soul mate.

Time had flown away so fast. Meanwhile my parents were busy finding a girl for me. I thought I should make their job easier. I told my mom that I had found my soul mate, probably the most loveliest and the most understanding girl I had ever met. I couldn't ever think of a better girl, God has exclusively made her for me because she is the synonym of soul mate for me.My mom asked her name.
"Annie , she hails from Cochin, I would want you and dad to go to her home and talk to her parents, of course they have no objection", I replied. It would be an inter-religious marriage, but it wasn't anything new. I met Annie two months back and her impact on my life has been beyond words. She has given me a reason for existence.

As far as Riya was concerned, it was later that I felt I never loved her, it was just a mere lust and I found out that it was better for me to be away from her.
I found Annie better than Riya; as in our corporate structure, your favourite client is best served. Fortunately I could find reason or I could cook up one to avoid her. I created justifications for my comfort. Soon she switched into a new firm. Thank God for getting me out of the trouble. Might be she would have been hurt, but I don't care, for me, my life was important. I don't know if I have done a Sin to Riya, but I certainly follow my heart.

BUT Deep down my heart, where all my selfishness, diplomacy and hypocrisy lie aside, I know I have done the SIN...

Yup u r rit, i was just trying to figure out the emotionless nature of many people we hear about and see around, the protagonist was just a playboy, he never loved anyone, he was more materialistic

i feel like i wanna know more about rhiya after you said "i do" to her for asking you if you love her. but you missed the details and jumped into conclusion by finding a new woman. however, that was a good decision to not get involve with a married woman. feelings can be very deceiving.

nice story...you can write a good one!

amazing story!what an ending!hehehehe.i really enjoyed it! yup, you got it right, just follow your heart. but i think in Indian society, parental arrangement are still practice, yes? i had met lots of Indian couples, 80% of them are married by parents' arrangement.

and the title is Sin. and you ask if it was a sin to be involved with a married woman? yes, it is. (they might be unhappy as many, many are, but the fact that they are married should be respected!)

In Christian belief we have 10 Commandments and one of it is : Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife. If you break this commandment, then yes, 100% it is a sin. But God is a fair God and He alone can judge.

Again, i enjoyed the story, Varun! More power! Thanks a lot for sharing it. You gave me the thrill!
